Abstract

|
The effect of Na-cyclamate, and Na-glutamate on lipid metabolism was evaluated by measuring total cholesterol, phospholipid and triglyceride contents in the serum and liver of rats. The animals were divided into 5 groups including two Na-cyclamate (one fed with 1500mg/kg/day and the other with 300mg/kg/day). two Na-glutamate (one fed with 6g/kg/day and the other with 3g/kg/day) and one control group.
12-weeks experiment was followed.
1. The serum total cohlesterol, phospholipid and triglyceride contents were generally elevated in the Na-glutamate-fed, particularly in high dose of Na-glutamate-fed, than in the control group.
2. The serum total cohlesterol and triglyceride were elevated in the high dose of Na-glutamate-fed than in the control, but not changed in the low dose of Na-glutamate-fed group.
3. The hepatic content of triglyceride was elevated in the Na-glutamate-fed than in the control, and the elevation was significant in the high dose of Na-glutamate-fed group.
4. The hepatic content of triglyceride was elevated in the Na-glutamate-fed than in the control, but not changed in the low dose of Na-glutamate-fed group.
